The Grammy– and Oscar-winner will unveil a solo show mixing her music and stories off-Broadway.

Melissa Etheridge: My Window – A Journey Through Life will play 12 performances only starting Oct. 13 at the midtown multi-stage venue New World Stages.

“While I’ve been telling my life stories through my lyrics and concert tours for many years, this is going to be something new for me,” Etheridge said in a statement.

“I cannot wait to feel the exchange of energy and deep connection that’s provided by an intimate theatre experience. That’s going to rock.”

Z2 comics has announced the release of a new graphic novel chronicling the life of Melissa Etheridge. Titled Heartstrings: Melissa Etheridge and Her Guitars

The release will tell the singer’s stories by way of her impressive collection of instruments. Each chapter will feature a different one of her guitars -- each named after a significant woman in history -- and will detail the unique journeys they’ve been on.

“As many of my fans know, my relationship to my guitars is beyond special and these instruments hold a very significant place in my life,”A custom Epiphone DR-100 adorned with the cover of the graphic novel 'Heartstrings'

Etheridge explained via press release. “I am so excited to share all these stories and images from my entire collection and have them all be a part of this incredible graphic novel.”

Each chapter of Etheridge's book – which is set for a June release via Z2 Comics – will focus on one of the acoustic or electric guitars in her massive collection. In an even cooler move though, Heartstrings will come available in an ultra-limited "platinum edition" that includes an autographed, custom-designed Epiphone DR-100 acoustic guitar.

Limited to just 100 units, at $999 each, the guitar is adorned with a beautiful paint job that mirrors Heartstrings's cover art.

In May 2020 Meliisa has lost her son who died at 21. Beckett Cypher, the son of Melissa Etheridge and her former partner filmmaker Julie Cypher has died. He was 21. Beckett’s death was related to opioid addiction.
While Beckett, whose biological father is singer David Crosby, had a high media profile as an infant and toddler, in recent years he and his siblings were photographed relatively rarely.

“Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction,” she wrote on Twitter. “My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.

“My heart is broken,” she continued. “I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief. We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end we know he is out of the pain now. I will sing again, soon. It has always healed me.
