The annaul open gardens event at the home of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and his wife Annette is going ahead, the organisers have confirmed.

Jennie Shaw, director of the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, says the open gardens event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27, from 11am to 4.30pm. (Thisiswiltshshire)

It is being held at Middlewick House in Pickwick, Corsham, to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, of which Mrs Mason is a vice-patron.

The event was last held in 2019, raising a record amount of £40,000 split between Wiltshire Air Ambulance and The Bobby Van Trust. Last year's event was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

WAA spokesman Adam Baker said: “I can confirm the event is still planned to go ahead. This announcement follows detailed discussions involving Wiltshire Air Ambulance, The Bobby Van Trust, Nick and Annette Mason, Wiltshire Council and Public Health England.

“We will be limiting the number of attendees to 2,000 on each day, which is 50 per cent of the original permitted capacity.

"There will be additional social distancing measures and signage in place, with specific areas for entrance and exit.

"As an outdoor event, mask wearing is not mandatory, although visitors may wish to do so."

This year, visitors will be able to wander around the gardens of Middlewick House and browse an array of stalls selling everything from plants to art.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be available throughout the day, along with Nick Mason’s famous barbecue.

Mr Mason will also display his stunning array of classic and high performance sports cars, including McLarens and Ferraris.

Food and drinks will be served across two separate areas, there will be many more tables and chairs to enable social distancing, and tables and chairs will be regularly cleaned, Mrs Shaw said.

She added: “Signage will be on site to remind people and they will not be able to gather into groups outside their family and their bubbles.
