It turns out Yoko Ono wasn't to blame after all - Ringo Starr admits wind was the reason the Beatles didn't want to be trapped in a Yellow Submarine together.
The Fab Four had bad wind Ringo recalled: “It caused terrible trouble. (Each of us would say) ‘it wasn’t me – it was you!’ It came to blows”.

Asked who had been the gassiest Beatle, Ringo chuckled and said diplomatically: “Paul....I have got to say that because the other two are not with us.”
Ringo let rip – verbally – about it after being shown a clip from Peter Jackson’s Apple TV documentary Let It Be.
Back in 1969 Ringo, now 81, is shown admitting that he had let one fly in a band meeting.
After watching his confession replayed on American TV, Ringo confided: “We learned that when we were in a band, when we started out, if anybody let a silent one go, they would try and get away with it.”
“It caused terrible trouble,” recalls Ringo. (Each of us will say) ‘it’s not me – it’s you!’ It comes to blow”.
Laughing TV host Jimmy Kimmel joked: “So it wasn’t Yoko that split the band. Is that just gas? ,’ Ringo replied, ‘No, it’s a fart. ”

“I am not writing this book as a Beatle historian,” the drummer said in a statement. “I’m writing this book as a Beatle — and there’s only a couple of us who can do that.
Ringo Starr is hitting the road with his All Starr Band this summer for a monthlong tour featuring longtime bandmates and the return of All Starr alum Edgar Winter.
The band which includes Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Gregg Bissonette, Hamish Stuart and Winter — will kick off the trek on May 27 in Rama, Ontario, and conclude on June 26 in Clearwater, Fla. Tickets are on sale now; more information can be found at Starr’s website.
“I can’t wait to get back out on the road and play,” Starr said in a statement. “This is the longest I’ve been off the road in years — up until 2020 I was touring every year with the All Starrs — and I’ve really missed it. Making music in the studio has been great, and it certainly saved me during the pandemic, but nothing beats playing live with great musicians in front of an audience. I love my fans and they love me, and it’s going to be wonderful to be peace and loving and playing for them again.
