The inauguration was preceded by two days of music featuring, in addition to the Boss, Sheryl Crow, John Bon Jovi, Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, Public Enemy, Gary Clark Jr., Keb' Mo', and Valerie June, performing songs by Woody Guthrie, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Neil Young, and Springsteen himself, among others: a true journey through the history of American music thanks to artists who donated their contributions. "This is what should have been organized for the whole country, and it deserved to take place on the National Mall," Bruce said polemically. "That's why it's nice that it's happening, anyway."
