He told fans the surgery was thanks to "a very kind and generous living donor"

The singer informed fans on social media yesterday (June 23) that he had undergone the surgery earlier this year. (NME report)

“I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor,” he wrote on X. “It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!”

“I should be back to normal in a few months,” Hall continued. “So get ready for more music and lots of Daryl’s House shows.”

Daryls House – also known as Live From Daryl’s House – is a Hall’s ongoing web series, which launched in 2007. Each episode sees the singer performing with his band and various special guests, which have previously included the likes of Todd Rundgren, CeeLo Green, Eurythmics‘ Dave Stewart, and Eagles‘ Joe Walsh.

In other news, last year it was reported that Hall and John Oates resolved their bitter legal battles in private.

The Hall & Oates pair had been embroiled in a legal battle after Hall announced he was suing Oates after claiming that he was left “blindsided” by his plan to sell a business stake in November 2023 – which Oates described as “inaccurate”.

The 2023 lawsuit saw Hall accuse his bandmate of making a “completely clandestine and bad faith move” by trying to sell a share of their business without Hall’s consent. It also claimed that he was only told about the deal to sell half of Whole Oats Enterprises (WOE) to Primary Wave just two days before he was set to leave on a month-long tour.

Hall objected to the sale as he disagreed with the “business model” of Primary Wave, and thought a sale could do “unimaginable” harm to the trademarks, personal name, royalties and online properties of Whole Oats Enterprises.

Since the bitter dispute, both Hall and Oates have confirmed that a reunion between the two will never happen. Hall said in March last year: “That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean.”
