
Eric Clapton's first daughter, Ruth confessed her personal problems in a radio interview, saying she is now convinced that people are only interested in her because of her father.
“I don't just talk about romantic relationships but also about friendships,” he told Jackman Radio, “That's why I never tell anyone and I usually wait until about the fifth date to tell the guys I go out with. I always have to worry that they want to go out with me to concerts and meet my father."
Ruth Kelly Clapton was born in January 1985 from Eric Clapton's relationship with Yvonne Kelly, the manager of the AIR Studios recording studios opened by Beatles producer George Martin on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, where Clapton recorded the album Behind the Sun Clapton was married to Pattie Boyd (Yvonne Kelly also had a husband) and Ruth's birth was kept secret.
Clapton said he reconnected with Yvonne Kelly in 1991 after the tragic death of her son with Lory Del Santo, Conor Clapton.
Yvonne went to the funeral with little Ruth and according to Clapton: “She was a huge help. I was able to hug a child again and still feel the enormous power that every child has,” he wrote in his 2007 autobiography.
After his divorce from Pattie Boyd in 1989, Eric Clapton married Melia McEnery in 2002, with whom he had three other daughters Julie Rose, Ella May and Sophie Belle.
His eldest daughter Ruth Clapton works in fashion and, according to what she said, continues not to tell others who her father is: "After all, when I go out with someone the first thing I ask them is not: who are your parents?"
