Taking to the stage armed only with an electric guitar, H.E.R. delicately steps into the song, with her commanding vocals floating on top a bed of pristine cleans, courtesy of her immaculate touch and jaw-dropping Chrome Glow signature Fender Stratocaster.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, H.E.R. expressed her nervousness before her performance. “Honestly, I am so excited to just be performing at the Super Bowl. It’s a huge stage, and it doesn’t get any bigger, you know?” she said. “But I think the goal, for me, is to make [the song]my own. I’m a huge fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful,’ but I really want to bring some different elements in there … make it H.E.R.”
This time last year, H.E.R. starred alongside Missy Elliott for Pepsi’s Super Bowl 2020 commercial. She spoke to PEOPLE about her experience.
