Guitar legend Carlos Santana passed out on stage during a performance at the Pine Knob Music Theatre, in Clarkson, Mich.,
The rock icon postponed a number of shows in December after he underwent a heart procedure.
“Just taking it easy. Forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out,” the legendary guitarist wrote on his official Facebook page.
The legendary guitarist had collapsed on stage a few days prior and spent some time in the hospital. Dehydration and heat exhaustion were the official reasons given, but Santana went into more detail during his makeup show Wednesday night.
"It wasn't any one thing," he explained. "I got food poisoning in Chicago."
The experience also had Santana, who turned 75 in the weeks between his two Ruoff visits, contemplating his mortality.
The 74 year-old guitarist was suffering from “heat exhaustion and dehydration” when he experience a medical emergency during his concert at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, located about 40 miles outside of Detroit. According to Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis, the musician was taken to a local emergency room for evaluation and is “doing well.”
“He was walking, playing and all of a sudden went down,” concertgoer Janet Brown told The Detroit News.
Footage from the concert posted to Twitter by Huffington Post editor Philip Lewis shows Santana waving to the audience as he was taken off stage by emergency medical personnel.
