During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on 14th November, Hagar welcomed both Alex Van Halen and David Lee Roth to share the stage with him on the 2024 North American trek celebrating the music of Van Halen.
Hagar told Stern last week: “If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, mother----er. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.
In response to Sammy Hagar’s invitation, David Lee Roth issued a succinct statement to Van Halen News Desk on Tuesday (21st November), simply saying: “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”
In an Instagram post yesterday promoting his collaborative Tequila with Guy Fieri, Hagar was asked by a number of followers about David Lee Roth’s response.
Recently David Lee Roth has shared a new previously unheard live studio version of Van Halen’s “Panama” recorded live in the studio.
Little else is known about the track, which was uploaded to DLR’s YouTube channel last night (September 1st) with artwork declaring: “Roth Lives!” This new take stays pretty close to the original Van Halen version, with some new vocal ad libs from Roth and a distinctly Eddie Van Halen-esque guitar tone.
You can stream the song below. While there’s still no official word on a Van Halen tribute tour, DLR has hinted that it could happen. Is this new version of “Panama”. (COS)
