Doja Cat is ready for a break. After five studio albums and numerous Billboard Hot 100 hits, the rapper revealed in an Elle UK cover story published Wednesday (May 13) that she’s toying with the idea of spending a few years away from making music.
She also spoke about how her borderline personality disorder diagnosis — which she shared with fans for the first time this past March — affects her dating life. “If I have a boyfriend, and he leaves just to run errands, my brain thinks he’s breaking up with me,” she told the publication. “And this is because my dad left me when I was little … I have to scrape against it and teach myself that that’s not happening to me. I’m safe.”
The pop star and rapper is hitting the road in North America, Europe, Asia, and more in support of new album Vie.
Vie is Doja Cat’s fifth studio album. The follow-up to 2023’s Scarlet featured the lead singles “Jealous Type” and “Gorgeous.” She performed the former song at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, where she brought Kenny G onstage for a saxophone solo.
Alongside the record's cover art, which sees the 29-year-old star surrounded by roses, she wrote on Instagram: "Today, I’m giving my fans access to pre-order my specially signed Vie vinyl + CD! Every week I’m dropping new, exclusive albums on my store so stay tuned for more, including the first vinyl from my “Love Languages Collection. (sic)"
And Doja also shared a new single from the record, Jealous Type, with an accompanying video seeing her channel various 1980s pop culture themes.
