Stevie Nicks: Why Men Don’t Ask Her on a Date and how became associated with witches

Rumors began to circulate about Nicks being a witch after the release of Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” in 1976.

According to Stephen Davis, author of Gold Dust Woman, Nicks would sometimes start the song during concerts by saying, “This is a song about an old Welsh witch.”

Stevie Nicks is known for her high-profile romantic relationships almost as much as her music. The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer spoke about her dating life. Here’s why the Fleetwood Mac singer thinks some men are afraid to ask her out on a date. Nicks has been linked to men in the entertainment industry. Another entertainer Nicks dated was The Eagles’ Don Henley. Their relationship resulted in a pregnancy, but Nicks chose to have an abortion in 1979 “If I had not had that abortion, I’m pretty sure there would have been no Fleetwood Mac,” says Nicks. “There’s just no way that I could have had a child then, working as hard as we worked constantly. And there were a lot of drugs; I was doing a lot of drugs. I would have had to walk away.”

In 1986 Walsh called her and told her not to contact him again.

She spoke about their break up saying: “It nearly killed me. We had to break up or we thought we’d die. We were just too excessive. But there was no closure. It took me years to get over it — if I ever did.

On Joe Walsh: “We were probably the perfect, complete, crazy pair. He was the one I would have married, and that I would probably have changed my life around for a little bit, anyway. Not a lot. I loved him. I really looked after him, and that’s what probably scared Joe the most. We were busy superstars and we were doing way too much drugs. We were really, seriously drug addicts. We were a couple on the way to hell.” (Stevie Sicks)

Nicks said that Fleetwood’s stage costumes made him look like he was “going to the Renaissance Faire.” While the looks fit with her ethereal stage style, she said that his clothing did not always smell good.Visualizza immagine di origine

Mick’s got his velvet knickers and the same tights and the same shoes he’s worn for a hundred years,” she told Creem in 1982, per The Nicks Fix. “You wouldn’t want to be within 50 feet of him in that outfit, especially the next night when he’s put it back on after it’s been in the bus all day and never dried!”

In 1986, Nicks decided to capitalize on her close friendship with Petty by joining him and Dylan on tour to Australia. She initially just planned to support them as they performed.

“I got to have fun just being a fan and had one of the most amazing months of my life,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

Though she intended to watch from the sidelines, Nicks ultimately joined Petty and Dylan onstage to sing “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “Like a Rolling Stone.” The crowd-pleasing cameo didn’t go over well with the Australian authorities. She had a tourist visa, not a work visa.

“I was told by the Australian government I would never be allowed back in the country, not with Fleetwood Mac, not by myself as a solo artist, not as a tourist if I did that again,” she explained. “I couldn’t even stand on stage to play a tambourine. So that was that.”
