Taylor Hawkins' death may be drug related, according to Colombian police.The 50-year-old Foo Fighters drummer died in a hotel room at the Casa Medina in the north of the country’s capital Bogota.The Metropolitan Police of Bogota, in a statement carried by several Colombian newspapers, said: “The cause of death has yet to be established.“According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.”
Local reports in Colombia said hotel staff called the emergency services after Taylor complained of suffering chest pains.He was already dead by the time medical responders arrived at his hotel room.
The Foo Fighters had been scheduled to play a concert in the Colombian capital.
Born in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 1972, Taylor Hawkins played in the experimental band Sylvia before playing drums on Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ and ‘Can’t Not’ tours. Hawkins officially joined the Foo Fighters in 1997, replacing their original drummer William Goldsmith.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died, according to a statement from the band. He was 50 years old.
The band announced the news in a statement on social media on March 25. No cause of death was given.
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of Taylor Hawkins,” it read.

“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”
The Foo Fighters had been due to perform at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá, Colombia on Friday, and Lollapalooza Brasil in São Paulo, Brazil on Sunday.
Before joining the Foo Fighters in 1997, Hawkins served as a touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette.
In addition to his duties with the group, he provided vocals, guitar, and piano for other artists' recordings.
As news of Hawkins’ death spread, numerous musicians and celebrities took to social media to honor the late drummer. “God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power,” wrote Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, sharing a photo of himself and Hawkins alongside Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell. “Rest In Peace my friend.” Miley Cyrus, a noted Foo Fighters fan, shared a photograph of herself and Hawkins to her Instagram stories, writing, “This is how I’ll always remember you,” and added that her upcoming concert would be dedicated to him. Slash wrote that Hawkins’ death left him “devastated,” saying, “I’ve no words to express all the feelings I have about his passing.” Former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Ozzy Osbourne, producer Steve Albini and musician Finneas were among others who also shared tributes.
