He no longer falls asleep on stage (which he did once while playing Fool to Cry – “It’s a very boring song,” said Keith in his own defence. “Mind you, I was pretty out of it,”
Just in time for the holidays, Keith Richards posted an 'old-new' animated lyric video rendition of Chuck Berry‘s rocking Christmas classic “Run Run Rudolph”. Milestones continue to be reached: Mick Jagger turned 80 in July – and now, astonishingly, Keith Richards joins him on December 18.
“Life’s just too interesting to die,” Richards said. “Anything I wanted to do had to be done—I couldn’t slack off. And hey, there was just an awful lot of cocaine involved."
Last week, during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM to promote The Rolling Stones’ new album, Hackney Diamonds, the rock legend discussed how he’s handling the aging process.
“From that end of it, I feel perfectly fine,” he declared. “I feel no different [than when I was younger] … I can jump onstage now and do the show, you know?”
He continued, “It’s a process. Like … you never grow up. The moment you get to a certain [stage], you’re growing down,” adding with a laugh, “I’m waiting for the diapers.”
“Patti is the whole deal. By now, I wouldn’t know how to get out of bed without her,” he added. “Or how to get in.” Richards he “always” been in love with Hansen since they met on his birthday in 1979. The couple married in 1983.
Just before Christmas day the popular Keith Richards-themed holiday event was held in Vancouver for another boozy night of fundraising in honour of the legendary rock star.
The 13th annual Keithmas event took place at the Rickshaw Theatre on Dec. 17 and offered an evening of partying for a good cause, with proceeds from the "fundrager" going to the Greater Vancouver Foodbank.

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards recently opened up to The Telegraph about life after making the decision to become (mostly) clean and sober. During the interview, the legendary guitarist stated that he is “trying to enjoy being straight.”
“The cigarettes I gave up in 2019. I haven’t touched them since. I gave up heroin in 1978. I gave up cocaine in 2006,” Richards informed the publication. “I still like a drink occasionally — because I’m not going to heaven any time soon — but apart from that, I’m trying to enjoy being straight. It’s a unique experience for me.”
Later on in the interview with The Telegraph, Richards discussed his thoughts on the aging process. “I’m blessed, maybe, that physically this thing just keeps going. So far, I have no real problem with getting old. There are some horrific things that you can see in the future, but you’ve got to get there,” Richards said. “I’m getting along with the idea of being 80, and still walking, still talking. I find [aging] a fascinating process. But then, if you didn’t, you might as well commit suicide.”
