On October 13, Geffen/UMe Recordings is set to release "Fyfty", a four-CD/digital 50th-anniversary box set that celebrates the enduring legacy of one of rock and roll's most pre-eminent bands

The career-spanning 50 tracks featured on "Fyfty" represent the best of the best music the band has offered up to its loyal, worldwide fanbase from the very beginning.

"Fyfty" is available to pre-order now via LynyrdSkynyrd.com. A limited-edition version of the collection with a signed litho will be available as an exclusive release available via uDiscover and the band's touring packages.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced that they will continue as a band following the death of Gary Rossington .

The guitarist was the last remaining founding member of the legendary Southern rock group’s original lineup.

A new press release notes that the band was initially "unsure" about moving forward after Rossington's death. "After much discussion with the band, the families of Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, and Dale Rossington, the collective has reached unified support," the statement reads. "[They] feel that continuing to perform live, and keeping the music alive, is in the best interest of the fans and everyone involved."

“Gary was always the first to say how ‘Skynyrd’s music is bigger than me or any one person,’" the guitarist's widow, Dale Rossington, said.

The group had already planned to tour this year to celebrate their 50th anniversary, but discussions were had about how to proceed after Rossington's death and now a decision has been made.

"The current members of the band, led by Johnny Van Zant, the singer for the past 36 years, were unsure if they would continue following Gary’s untimely passing. After much discussion with the band, the families of Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, and Dale Rossington, the collective has reached unified support, and feel that continuing to perform LIVE, and keeping the music alive, is in the best interest of the fans and everyone involved," read a statement issued announcing their decision.

"Gary made it known at every chance to express how timeless the music was, and it was always his goal to keep the music alive for his brothers because that was always their dream. He spent his entire life trying to carry on that dream for Ronnie, Allen, Steve and all the others over the years. While he was not able to physically be onstage with the current lineup over the last couple years, he supported them in every way. His dream will continue thanks to [singer] Johnny [Van Zant], [guitarist] Rickey [Medlocke] and the rest of our bandmates to continue to carry his legacy and music on for future generations.”

3 years ago guitarist and original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Rossington, has been experiencing fatigue and other symptoms related to a leaky heart valve. Rossington underwent a procedure on July 31 to repair the valve. To allow him proper time to recover the band must reschedule the upcoming tour dates. Rossington is expected to make a full recovery,” according to a news release.
