Meet Paul McCartney's Wife Nancy Shevell

By editorial board on October 2, 2023

McCartney tries to keep his wife, Nancy Shevell, out of the limelight, although on special occasions he will offer a bit of insight into their relationship.

Like McCartney's first wife, Shevell has weathered breast cancer. Linda McCartney died of breast cancer in 1998.

Sir Paul McCartney recently went off with a bang as he continues to enjoy his sun-soaked holiday to St Barts with his wife Nancy Shevell.

Since McCartney is a British knight, once the pair is married, rules of etiquette say Shevell will be required to be called Lady McCartney — something her fellow MTA board members might need some time to getting used to. The couple will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary the 9th of October, just on John Lennon birthday

The Beatles star, 78, made the most of the warm temperatures on the island as he went for a boat trip with his other half, 61.  Stars at St. Barts can enjoy relatively normal holiday due to minimal restrictions with restaurants, hotels and spas on the tropical island all welcoming guests.

Before Shevell became McCartney's third wife, they knew each other for over 20 years as neighbors in the Hamptons. But McCartney and Shevell reconnected through her second cousin, TV star Barbara Walters (via New York Post). "Barbara was her emotional confidante and played matchmaker," a friend told The Observer. "She gave numerous dinner parties for them and always made sure to invite people she knew that Paul would want to meet."

The Beatles legend looked fit in Nike trainers, blue shorts and a dark grey tee, topping the outfit off in a straw fedora. His 56-year-old wife meanwhile showed off her fab figure in a pair of tight yoga pants and long'sleeved top, trumping her hubby in a larger floppy sun hat.

The 61-year-old business woman doesn't like to be in the spotlight, photographed, or interviewed, as the Observer reports she even turned down an exclusive with Vogue. But there's no denying the happiness she and McCartney bring to each other.

Nancy was already independently wealthy with her own business interests when she married Paul. She’s clearly not interested in being a public figure.( In contrast, by joining Paul in his band, Linda was a very much a public figure. ). She attends his concerts and accompanies him on gala nights and Stella’s catwalk shows and obviously they’ve been seen on holiday.

This is what UK journalist and tv presenter Piers Morgan said about Nancy when he observed her in the Immigration queue at Heathrow Airport.

“When we arrived at the immigration desk, Nancy was grilled for ten minutes by a stern-faced UK officer.

Their exchange grew increasingly comical.

‘Why are you travelling alone?’

‘My husband had to stay behind and work in Los Angeles.’

‘What does he do?’

‘He’s a musician.’

‘So what kind of work has compelled him to stay in America?’

‘It’s a charity event.’

‘Is he a good musician?’

‘Yes, I think so.’

And so the interrogation went on.

But Nancy never once played the ‘I’m married to a Beatle’ card, nor even used his name.

She just patiently answered all the questions until she was allowed to proceed.

I walked up to the same officer afterwards and said:

‘That lady’s husband is Paul McCartney.’

The officer turned bright red and began hyper-ventilating.

You don’t see Nancy giving TV interviews or using Paul to further her career. She didn’t marry him for his money, she’s very wealthy in her own right.

The pair are no doubt enjoying their time in America, having spent most of lockdown in the English countryside with Paul's daughter Mary and her children.

The couple have a lot to celebrate this year as they will mark their tenth wedding anniversary in October.
