They played The Beatles's songs Oh! Darling and Helter Skelter.
Before performing Helter Skelter, McCartney said: "So Dave rang me up one day and he said, Taylor has written this song called Summer Rain and he said 'we'd like you to drum on it'.
"This group has got like two of the best drummers in the world, and they wanted me to drum on it. So I did.
"Quite a memory."
The all-star Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert went on for more than five hours Saturday, closing the night out with an emotional, enthralling Foo Fighters set at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The show was a special tribute to the late drummer, with an impressive number of special guests throughout the evening. The Foo Fighters’ headlining moment featured many of the band’s greatest hits, assisted by friends and family on the drums in Taylor Hawkins’ place.
Dave Grohl told the crowd that they’d see a “revolving door of drummers” honoring Hawkins on stage with them and noted (to cheers all around), “When it comes to Taylor Hawkins, you gotta celebrate the drummers, right?”
Recently Speaking after receiving his honour from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, the Queen musician paid tribute to “one of (his) very greatest friends” and said he would “love to” dedicate the award to Hawkins. (Eveningstandard)
The 72-year-old ueen drummer, Roger Taylor, who Hawkins counted among his top musical influences, also revealed the 50-year-old had acted as a mentor to his own son.
Taylor said he is still “devastated” and trying to come to terms with the fact he will “never see him again”, after Hawkins’s death was announced on Saturday.
Speaking alongside his wife Sarina after the ceremony, Taylor said: “We’re still so upset about it and completely devastated.
“My whole family and his whole family were very close. He was, my wife called him, sunshine in human form. He was the most wonderful man and I can’t quite believe that I’m not going to see him again.
“He’s done a lot to help my son, who’s a great drummer, and he actually sort of mentored him. We’re going to miss him so much.”

Reminiscing about the work they did together, Sir Paul said: “I was asked by the Foo Fighters to play on one of their tracks. It turned out that they wanted me to play drums! – on one of Taylor’s songs.
“This request came from a group with TWO amazing drummers! It was an incredible session and cemented my relationship with Taylor and the guys.
“Later they asked if I would induct them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I sang with them on Get Back.
“Not only was he a GREAT drummer but his personality was big and shiny and will be sorely missed by all who were lucky to live and work alongside him.
“Taylor provided a powerhouse drum part. I’ll never forget that night.
“All of which made it much more of a desperately sad shock to hear he had died. So thanks Taylor for sharing some glorious minutes with me. You were a true Rock and Roll hero and will always remain in my heart.“God bless his family and band – Love Paul X.”
