Annie Clark called her collaborator “a precious baby angel muffin, but if a precious baby angel muffin was tough as nails and cool as hell and fuckin’ loved the Breeders.”

Olivia Rodrigo received Variety’s Storyteller of the Year Award at the publication’s Hitmakers ceremony on Friday. She was presented the award by St. Vincent, who collaborated with Rodrigo on the Guts song “Obsessed.”

Annie Clark gave a speech praising Rodrigo’s songwriting instincts. Watch both Clark and Rodrigo’s speeches over on Variety. Here’s what St. Vincent said: In order to be a good storyteller, one must—to quote Olivia herself—pay attention to things most people ignore. Olivia sees the cracks and contradictions in herself and others and makes the ineffable understandable and transformational for her listeners.

Nile Rodgers has confirmed he’s currently working on new music with St. Vincent.

Anne Erin Clark aka St. Vincent, is born September 28, 1982. She managed the road show for her uncle's band, Tuck & Patti, as her introduction to the music business. Her formal training came from the jazz band and theater program of her local Dallas high school.

He went on to describe St Vincent as “so real deal” and called the experience “fucking wonderful”.I’m trying to not lose my mind too,” he added.

“Running the board, bitches,” she wrote last week while earlier this month, Willow Smith shared a picture from the studio featuring St. Vincent, leading many fans to believe a collaboration is in the works.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Rodgers revealed a blossoming friendship with St. Vincent.

“Somehow she was introduced into my life only a few months ago,” said Rodgers. “I started to go back and listen to the work she had done with my old engineer and she started sending me some new stuff. I was like ‘wow! That’s really cool’.

He continued: “I would have never thought of using the guitar like that or composing like that and it was really interesting. It was very eclectic and she was using different ways of expressing herself, the fact that we’re vibing so much is interesting because just as guitarists we are very different. The fact she’s doing what she’s doing is really fascinating to me.”
