“It’s dishonest. It’s not rock and roll.” Rod Stewart has hit out at Elton John‘s  farewell tour, describing it as a “dishonest” attempt to sell tickets.

Rod Stewart has revealed that he’ was in the midst of a “spat” with Elton John, after criticising the ‘Rocketman’ singer’s decision to head out on an extensive farewell world tour.

“I do love Elton, only we’re not talking at the moment. We’ve had a spat,” he said on Scottish Radio.

“Because I criticized his tour as being money-grabbing.”

But now, Rod has said they’ve officially buried the hatchet, after admitting it didn’t seem fair for him to tell his eight children to apologise to people without following his own advice.

“I say to my kids, ‘A man apologises, go and apologise to your mother’. We’ve just made up as friends again, me and Elton.

“We’ve always been fierce enemies, as you know, through the years, but it’s always been at a playful level.

“But we had the worst row, like a married couple. It went on forever.”

Rod, 76, has insisted he “regrets” lashing out at Elton for his farewell tour.

‘Elton John’s final tour stinks of selling tickets’ After Billy Joel and Neil Young, among others, also Rod The Mod  joins those who criticize Elton’s farewell tour.

He explained: “I did email her [Sir Elton] and said, ‘What, again dear?’ And, I didn’t hear anything back.”

The ‘Maggie May’ singer added at the time: “I don’t think this is a big deal, it stinks of selling tickets.”

The rock legend complained that the 300-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour “stinks of selling tickets”.

When fellow guest Cyndi Lauper joked that the tour as “not a bad idea”, Rod shot back: “It’s dishonest. It’s not rock and roll.”rod

Sir Rod said he had never talked of quitting and the decision by friendly rival Sir Elton, was “not rock and roll”. Asked on a US chat show about the Rocket Man’s planned retirement, he replied: “I did email her (Elton) and said ‘What, again dear?’ I didn’t hear anything back.

“If I retire, I won’t make an announcement. I’ll just fade away. I don’t think this is a big deal, it stinks of selling tickets.”Stewart did say that he reached out to John after the Rocket Man’s big announcement in January, and jokingly wrote, “What, again dear?” over email. John — whose decades-old nickname for Stewart is Phyllis, while John is Sharon — didn’t respond.

Recently Billy Joel decleared ” You know what a farewell tour is? Is just a way of getting people to buy tickets, they don’t think they’re going to see you anymore. Then all these farewell tours go on for like five years. The Who

have been on a farewell tour for like 30 years. So I think it’s pointless. If I’m going to stop, I’m just going to stop. But I don’t see that happening.”

Neil Young as well told recently  When I retire, people will know, because I’ll be dead. has called out bands who embark on farewell tours, calling the shows “bullshit.”

Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Simon and Soft Cell are just some of the acts who recently announced their own farewell tours.

“They’ll know, “He’s not coming back! He retired.” But I’m not gonna say, “I’m not coming back.” What kind of bullshit is that?
