Listen to St. Vincent’s soundtrack to new film ‘The Nowhere Inn’

St. Vincent has shared the soundtrack to her and Carrie Brownstein’s new mockumentary The Nowhere Inn – check it out below.

The film, which sees Annie Clark playing a fictionalised, satirical version of herself, was released on Friday (September 17), and the soundtrack has followed.

The 19-song soundtrack, which was previewed by title track ‘The Nowhere Inn’ last week, features a number of full songs as well as a series of sketches and scores.

WSTV Radio will see St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, take on the persona of a New York City radio DJ in the 70s. (Uncut)

Each episode will take follow a “day in the life” theme as she plays hits from the ’70s plus special “premieres” of “new” songs from future music legends, according to Rolling Stone.

Speaking about the show, St. Vincent said: “On WSTV Radio, I take a little acid-trip back in time with a smooth voice and all the coolest new (old) tunes. It is a lot of fun (for me, at least.) Enjoy!!”

“On WSTV Radio, the innovative art-rocker introduces her latest persona as she throws it back to the ’70s – tapping into the decade’s news, traffic, weather, and biggest hits by playing an NYC radio DJ.

Episode one aired on Friday (June 4) and was set on August 15, 1972. St. Vincent re-visited Long Island’s Festival of Hope, which featured artists including Jefferson AirplaneChuck BerryBo DiddleyJames Brown and more.

Vincent also played music by Gilbert O’Sullivan, the Isley Brothers and David Bowie on the episode.

Anne Erin “Annie” Clark (born September 28, 1982),better known by her stage name St. Vincent, is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. After studying at Berklee College of Music for three years, she began her music career as a member of the Polyphonic Spree. Clark was also a member of Sufjan Stevens’s touring band before forming her own band in 2006.

St. Vincent’s work has received consistent praise for its distinct musical style, which blends soft rock, experimental rock, electropop, and jazz influences. Her debut album was Marry Me (2007), followed by Actor (2009) and Strange Mercy (2011). She released a collaborative album with David Byrne in 2012 titled Love This Giant. Clark also contributed backing vocals for Swans on their 2014 album, To Be Kind. Her fourth solo album, self-titled St. Vincent, was released on February 25, 2014 and was named album of the year by The GuardianEntertainment WeeklyNME, and Slant Magazine, as well as second best album of the year by Time magazine. The album won her a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, her first Grammy award. She was the first solo female performer in 20 years to win a Grammy in that category.
