The Last Night musician has never publicly endorsed the American leader.
"I like to say my piece through organisations I support and the environment that I have on tour," she said. "I think it's pretty obvious what kind of person I am and the things I support. And I hope that my fans can see that through the things that I'm putting my energy towards."
"I try to keep my relationships as sacred and private as possible," the 23-year-old continued. "I love the people in my life. They love me. You just try to keep that circle as positive and supportive as possible. And the outside noise, I can't do anything about that. Focusing my energy on something that I can't control, it just puts me in a bad mood."
Tate is currently working on her fourth studio album, a follow-up to 2025's So Close to What. Accordingly, the Greedy star promised fans that the new project will be her best work yet.
Now, McRae has addressed claims of being a MAGA supporter, telling the outlet: “I like to say my piece through organizations I support and the environment that I have on tour,” she says. McRae has previously supported The Trevor Project, a LGBTQ+ suicide prevention nonprofit, while a portion of her merchandise proceeds has gone to the Global Fund for Women.
Fans slam Tate McRae over 'ick' Team USA . The Canadian singer's home-country followers were quick to express their disappointment after she seemingly switched allegiance to the United States of America.
Tate, 22, appeared in a promo video for Team USA ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy, which she then shared on her Instagram page.
"I'm trying to get to Milan for an amazing opening ceremony to meet Team USA," the pop star said in the clip, before talking up American athletes and name-dropping the Super Bowl football championship game.
"Then it's the weekend with America's best skating for gold and Lindsey Vonn's epic comeback. And back to the States for the big game, Super Bowl LX."
The Just Keep Watching singer's Canadian fans let her know they were unimpressed by the display of support for America.
"The absolute ick every Canadian just felt," one wrote on social media. "In 2026... what were you and your team thinking?"
"No amount of money could make me endorse the country that threatens mine," another commented.
Others demanded Tate cheerlead for Canada, not America.
