NASA:There's life on Mars? Yes It's only Rock n Roll

The Rolling Stones rise to rock the Rose Bowl -There is now a “Rolling Stones Rock” on Mars, according to NASA:

NASA named the little stone for the legendary rockers after its InSight robotic lander captured it rolling across the surface of Mars. Robert Downey Jr. took the stage just before the Stones at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on Thursday night to make the new moniker public.

The stadium is just a stones’ throw from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which manages InSight.

In a series of tweets, Downey Jr. and his partners in space crime have been teasing some big reveal during the Rolling Stones' concert at the Rose Bowl.n a set that slotted 19 classic Stones tunes into two hours on stage, the band thrilled the packed stadium from the raucous opener “Street Fighting Man” to the completely satisfying “Satisfaction” that closed out the encore as fireworks exploded overhead.

“NASA has given us something we’ve always dreamed of, our own rock on Mars,” Jagger said. “Can’t wait to put it on the mantelpiece.”

The band will perform another show at MetLife on Monday. The tour ends Aug. 31 in Miami. (seatlletimes)

The tonite show was postponed from the spring after frontman and septuagenarian fitness inspiration Mick Jagger had heart surgery, but now Mick, guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood and man, the myth, the legend, drummer Charlie Watts are making good on the tour date with tickets for the long sold-out show running $155 to north of $3,500 on StubHub. (It might be worth dropping the cash if you think the Glimmer Twins are running out of time.)

“Street Fighting Man” served as opener and was followed by the one-two punch of “You Got Me Rocking” and “Tumbling Dice.” Then, The Rolling Stones lit into “Beast Of Burden” for the first time this year. The track from 1978’s Some Girls won out in fan voting over “All Down The Line,” “Emotional Rescue” and “Respectable.” Next, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” ended the first segment of the concert before the core members of the band assembled on the B-Stage for acoustic versions of “Sweet Virginia” and “Dead Flowers.”

these are the iconic rock band’s most memorable Southern California shows, in chronological order.

The lights on the four gargantuan screens behind the stage went dark. There they were: Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie at the end of the catwalk. The Rolling Stones, the self-proclaimed (but not entirely unfounded) “greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world,” cruising through the harmonica-sparked acoustic scruffier “Sweet Virginia” — time kept with a healthy stomp and Charlie Watts’ ever-steady hands.

Dressed in T-shirts and hats emblazoned with the famous tongue logo.  Judging by the tissue boxes kept around the stage, Jagger might have been a touch under the weather, though he sounded great (save for a precarious falsetto attempt in “Beast of Burden”). As for those signature moves, there were all the hip gyrations and jittery stutter steps expected from one of rock’s most limber frontmen, of any age. After his wriggling harmonica opener to “Midnight Rambler,” Jagger — who seemed to accrue layers just for the sake of shedding them emphatically later — swaggered his way down the runway to twirl his pink jacket over his head on more conspicuous turf.
