A test pressing of the 2012 12" by The Who -  (White Label, 3716687).  12" was 1 of 5 issued by the record label. The record appears to be unplayed.

The rare disc will be auctioned starting today, June 6, by Omega Auction. the starting price at the moment appears very accessible, starting at £85. Here's the link to the Omega auction.

Lot 40 - THE WHO - MUSIC FOR THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES 12" (WHITE LABEL -2012 - 3716687)

The closing act of the ceremony was The Who, who performed a medley of the songs "Baba O'Riley", "See Me, Feel Me" and "My Generation".

The Who performed at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The band consisted of Pete Townshend: guitar and backing vocals, Roger Daltrey: vocals, Zak Starkey: drums, Simon Townshend: guitar and backing vocals, Morgan Nicholls: bass, Chris Stainton: keyboards and Billy Nicholls on backing vocals. The medley of songs was pre-recorded at British Grove Studios, London. Produced and arranged by Roger Daltrey. Co-produced by Billy Nicholls and Bob Pridden.

The B-Side is The Who’s original recording of ‘Early Morning Cold Taxi’, written by David ‘Cy’ Langston and Roger Daltrey and recorded at CBS Studios, London on 7 June 1967. Remastered by Jon Astley at Close To the Edge.

The EP was a limited edition with only 1,000 copies pressed and individually numbered.

Recently The Who With Orchestra Live at Wembley Tops Billboard Classical Charts, The record, which was released on 31 March 2023, entered the Billboard Classical Album Chart at Number 1.

This makes it the first No.1 album in the US for The Who in all their 59-year career. Their 1971 album Who’s Next topped the UK charts that year. The Who With Orchestra Live at Wembley was recorded live at Wembley Stadium, London on 6 July 2019. The band were accompanied by the Isobel Griffiths Orchestra conducted by Keith Levenson.

 

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has opened up about the chances of the band touring America again. It’s Become Too Expensive for The Who to Tour America. The Who will open their European tour on June 14th in Barcelona- full dates below.

The 2023 UK shows include Edinburgh Castle, the band’s first show in the Scottish capital in over 40 years, as well as shows in Derby, their first since 1966, The O2 London, Durham and Brighton cricket grounds.
