Quadrophenia (Half-Speed Master): Vinyl 2LPRelease date: 2 February, 2024 | 1 | €57.99 |
The new mix was created by longtime Who audio engineer Bob Pridden and lauded Dolby Atmos engineer Richard Whittaker at Whittaker’s Starboard Audio studio in London. Richard Whittaker says: "Quadrophenia was mixed in Dolby Atmos at my studio which was one of the first batch of Dolby Atmos (Music) Accredited Studios in the UK."
The double-LP set peaked at No. 2 in both the U.S. and U.K., and featured such classic tunes as “The Real Me,” “5.15,” and “Love Reign O’er Me.” The album yielded no hit singles in the U.S., although “5.15” reached No. 20 on the U.K. chart. Quadrophenia has had many versions and mixes released throughout its history. With the Dolby Atmos mix, Bob and I wanted to capture the essence of the original 1973 release mixed by Pete Townshend and Ron Nevison but also utilise aspects of other versions such as the 1990s remix by Andy Macpherson
