Last November, Cat Power took over London’s Royal Albert Hall to recreate Bob Dylan’s iconic 1966 “Royal Albert Hall” concert.
Additionally, Cat Power will stage three previously announced shows in Los Angeles next month, including two dates at the Troubadour on November 6th and 7th and a one-off at the Palace Theatre on November 8th.
That show, during which Power closely followed the setlist of Dylan’s infamous tour, is memorialized with the live album Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert. It’s out on November 10th via Domino, Consequence reports.
Charlyn Marie "Chan" Marshallborn January 21, 1972 is better known by her stage name Cat Power She is an American singer-songwriter, musician and model. Cat Power was originally the name of her first band, but has become her stage name as a solo artist.
She released You Are Free (2003), featuring guest musicians Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder, followed by the soul-influenced The Greatest (2006), recorded with numerous Memphis studio musicians. A second album of cover tracks, Jukebox, was released in 2008. In 2012 she released the self-produced Sun, which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200, the highest-charting album of her career to date.

Power, aka the musical alias of Chan Marshall, says Dylan’s music has been an inspiration to her since she was five years old. His 1966 tour was a bit contentious to folk purists, as it saw the singer-songwriter switch from acoustic to electric guitar midway through the set. Power, however, is part of the camp who believes the tour was a major turning point in rock ‘n’ roll.
“In a way, Dylan is a deity to all of us who write songs,” she explains in a press release. Power’s singing voice is certainly much different than Dylan’s, but these covers are just further proof of the brilliance in his songwriting.

The legendary singer-songwriter is due to continue his ongoing ‘Rough And Rowdy Ways’ world tour in the US and Canada this autumn.
Kicking off with two shows in Kansas City (October 1, 2), the upcoming leg also includes stop-offs in Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Toronto and Montreal, among other cities.
