"Britney, if you're watching, I love you. I love the song," Black said in his shoutout, per Entertainment Tonight.
"We're [Black and Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass] very proud of it. I hope you like it, too," he added from the red carpet at L.A.'s AMC 14 theater at The Grove.
Black even expressed interest in collaborating with Spears in a dance video someday. Spears has become known for her energetic Instagram dance videos from her home, which often feature lots of spins and kicks.
"I'm here! I'm ready when you are. I'm waiting by the phone. I got kicks! I don't quite have Britney kicks, but you know, I got some moves," he said.

A song by pop star Britney Spears is back in the charts almost 15 years after it was first released, thanks to a fan joke about her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s new single.
Timberlake, 42, is preparing to release his first studio album since 2018’s Man of the Woods. Titled Everything I Thought It Was, the project was announced along with the release of lead single “Selfish” on Thursday 25 January.
Fans of Spears quickly began discussing her own song, also called “Selfish”, which featured on the deluxe version of her 2011 album Femme Fatale.
Britney Spears's 2011 track "Selfish" has overtaken Timberlake's new lead single of the same name on iTunes following a push from Spears fans to support the 13-year-old Femme Fatale cut.
Following the Thursday release of Timberlake's new single and music video, Spears fans rallied around her own song of the same name on social media, ultimately helping elevate it to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes charts on Friday.
As of Saturday morning, the song is sitting at No. 2 on the iTunes Top Songs chart for digital downloads, with Timberlake's "Selfish" trailing behind at No. 4.
A music source told The Sun: “The Britney album is being kept top secret. “Work has been going on behind the scenes for quite a while to gather a series of killer songs to bring Britney back with a bang.
“She is one of the biggest stars of the 21st Century so there is pressure for the music to be great. Charli has a great track record when it comes to writing clever pop songs.
“She went into the studio earlier in the year to make some songs using Britney’s guidance
“She came up with a really strong track that is expected to make it on to the album, which Britney's team hope will be out in 2024.”
Next year will mark 25 years since Britney’s smash debut album, and The Sun added she is “planning to celebrate by returning with her first big release since 2016”.
The publication added the pair are “yet to meet”.
But Britney will be aware of Charli’s career as a pop songwriter before she had six Top 10 hits of her own.
Charli has written hits for singers including Selena Gomez and Gwen Stefani, and wrote Shawn Mendes’ and Camila Cabello’s ‘Senorita’, which spent six weeks at No1 in 2019. (Music-News)
