If These Walls Could Sing features some of the biggest names in music and film, including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, John Williams, Cliff Richard, Jimmy Page, Dame Shirley Bassey, George Lucas, Nile Rodgers, Kate Bush, Ye, Celeste, Roger Waters and David Gilmour. The film exploring Abbey Road’s breadth, diversity and ingenuity, from classical to pop, and film scores to hip-hop, tells its story by pairing its A-lister interviews with vivid archive footage and session tapes.

Mary McCartney recently revealed that "There was so much more that I wanted to include, but there wasn’t necessarily footage of all the things I wanted to include.
But the main thing was editing it down. The Jacqueline du Pré section was four times longer initially. And with all The Beatles, we put it together and then we just sort of trimmed and trimmed. But I think it’s the perfect length. I think it’s enough. I think if we’d made it a two-and-a-half-hour documentary, it’s very hard to sustain concentration."
"I didn’t just dive into doing the interviews My first interview was, I think, Ringo because he lives in Los Angeles. He came there and he was like, “Fine, I’ll do it.” With a lot of the people in it, you had to strike while the iron was hot. They’d say, “Yes” and six months later, many of them aren’t there anymore, or they’re going off on tour."

If These Walls Could Sing marks the first time Abbey Road has opened its doors to a feature length documentary and will be the centrepiece of the legendary recording studios’ 90th anniversary celebrations which begin in November this year. It will tell countless stories featuring an all-star cast of interviews, unparalleled access to the studios and, of course, a spellbinding soundtrack.
In Sept. 2022, it was announced that Disney’s Original Documentary unit has joined with Mercury Studios, the music-first content studio from Universal Music Group, for the worldwide streaming release on a date still to be announced. It had its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in early September and will continue to hit the festival circuit.
“When you enter a place with so much history around it, it’s kind of sacred in a way,” John says to open the trailer. “People want to come here. They want the sound of Abbey Road.”
The trailer follows the film’s director Mary McCartney — daughter of Paul McCartney — as she describes how the beloved studio has been a part of her life for “as long as I can remember.”
“Hearing it was the anniversary of Abbey Road Studios brought back so many memories to me,” Mary tells Rolling Stone, referring to the record studio’s 91-year history. “I have grown up visiting Abbey Road, it feels like family to me. In directing this feature-length documentary, it felt natural to explore the wealth of stories, and unearth so many unheard gems that I had not known about.” (Rolling Stone)
The trailer splices clips from the Beatles’ recording days and includes a recent interview with Paul himself. “We had used a particular,” McCartney says before turning and seeing an old piano. “There it is!”
Among the new stories told in the film are that of Eg Fela Kuti, who came from Nigeria to record a trio of albums, and Kate Bush, who produced and directed a video in one of Abbey Road’s studios.
