John and Yoko also puts emphasis on the creative collaboration between Lennon and Ono, using the couple’s belief in radical engagement to draw parallels between past and present. The two-hour film offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the famous 1971 album was made

The special features interviews with Yoko Ono, Julian Lennon, photographer David Bailey, gallerist John Dunbar (who introduced the couple), Lennon’s former personal assistant Dan Richter and studio designer Eddie Veale.

John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky is produced by Eagle Rock Films in association with A&E Network. Peter Worsley serves as producer, with Geoff Kempin and Terry Shand serving as executive producers.

The doc premieres March 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.

Epstein directed the 2010 documentary ‘LennoNYC’ about the former Beatle’s life in New York City, and through that film, he met Ono.

‘I have a nice relationship with Yoko and when she contacted me that they wanted to make this film, I was elated. I mean, you know, there was upfront a promise that the vault, that the archives was going to be doors blown open, and that everything that had not been seen from this period was going to be at our disposal,’ he said, adding that he started working on the documentary in spring 2018.

When he looked at the material Ono made available, he said he was ‘gobsmacked.’ ‘It was surprise after surprise after surprise.’

John Lennon’s ‘Wedding Album’ to be Reissued
LP’s re-release coincides with 50th anniversary of couple’s nuptials
John Lennon’s Wedding Album will be reissued this spring. Originally released in 1969, it was the couple’s third collaborative LP. Announced on Monday, which marks Ono’s 86th birthday, Unfinished Music No. 3: Wedding Album will be released via Secretly Canadian in partnership with Chimera Music on March 22nd, two days after Ono and Lennon’s 50th wedding anniversary, according with Rolling Stone

On her 86th birthday, Yoko Ono has announced a reissue of Wedding Album, her 1969 collaborative LP with John Lennon. It’s due out on March 22 via Secretly Canadian and Chimera Music. The release date falls fifty years after John and Yoko’s marriage, which took place on March 20, 1969 in Gibraltar.

Crafted by graphic designer John Kosh, the original packaging housed a box that commemorated the couple’s nuptials – they were married on March 20th, 1969 in Gibraltar. Photographs, a copy of their marriage certificate, drawings culled by Ono and Lennon, and a picture of a slice of wedding cake were among the souvenirs that came with the album. The labels are offering a “faithful recreation” of the Wedding Album, which will be available on limited edition white-vinyl LP, CD and digitally.
