Ariana Grande hits out at White House for ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ in TikTok

Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false"

Ariana Grande has once again fired back after one of her songs was used to soundtrack a TikTok video relating to Donald Trump.

The track was used over a clip of Trump walking up to a podium with text that read: “Me and my truth we sit in silence… Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports.”

She follows in the footsteps of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo and more in demanding her song be removed. It’s not the first time this has happened to Grande. Back in June, she criticised the White House after her song ‘Bye’ was used in a video showing ICE agents detaining people,

The clip was posted on TikTok earlier this week, and shows agents for the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement putting people in handcuffs, placing them in cars, and detaining the individuals.

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson has since responded, telling US media (via BBC News) the usual squalid, mendacious, useless, contemptuous fascist response.

Ariana Grande returned to the stage last night (June 6) for her first live performance since 2019.

The singer kicked off her 2026 ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour at Oakland Arena in California yesterday, marking her first run of live dates in seven years. The trek features a huge 10-show residency at The O2 in London between August and September.

She’s rarely played live since she completed her huge tour in 2019, only making a handful of appearances at non-profit events and award shows. Grande also performed on Saturday Night Live in 2024. Around the time of the tour announcement, Grande said it would likely be her “last hurrah”.

Though the tour was named after her 2024 album, Grande has also released 2021’s ‘Positions‘ since her last time on the road, meaning there were plenty of tracks receiving their live debut.

Ariana Grande’s ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour setlist was:
‘Yes, And?’
‘Positions’
‘Dandelion’
‘The Boy Is Mine’
‘Eternal Sunshine’
‘Just Like Magic’
‘Thank U, Next’
