The BBC is auctioning off rare vinyl and music equipment

By editorial board on January 16, 2024

The BBC is auctioning off thousands of vinyl records and a choice selection of rare and vintage music equipment. The sale starts on Tuesday 30th January.

The vinyl collection largely contains duplicates, according to the British institution, and won’t affect the BBC’s core vinyl archive. The auction is being run by Omega Auctions — an auction house that specialises in music items— and will contain rare vinyl, BBC memorabilia and audio equipment including microphones, broadcasting consoles, and an ‘On Air’ BBC Radio lightbox.

The majority of the auction contains vinyl records, with everything from jazz and krautrock collections to a Pink Floyd rarities LP pack. The auction will also include a copy of the Beatles ‘Please Please Me’ LP pressings pack.

You can view the whole auction here. Some of the items are already available to bid on.
