Keith Moon allegedly once threw a cat at his girlfriend Annette Walter-Lax.

Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, 86, has recalled the infamous wild antics of the late Who drummer - who he claimed was often under the influence of multiple prescription drugs and booze.

He told Classic Rock: “Keith was a wonderful guy but, God he did overindulge. The doctor would come round and give him so much bloody stuff, then three days later Keith would’ve taken it all.

“There’d be Valium 10s, sleeping pills, wake-up pills and speeding pills, and he would just down them all the time. And there’d be champagne in the mornings, with brandy. I used to watch him in disbelief.”

Bill Wyman had an apartment in the same block and bravely sought to keep an eye on Keith. One night, Bill Wyman and Spyros Niarchos, made arrangements with keith to meet in his flat on the third floor to drink something together.

He remembered: “Once I was making a cup of tea in the morning and his lovely Swedish girlfriend [Annette Walter-Lax] came down – I’d heard them fighting upstairs – and she had scratches down each side of her face, with blood. I said: 'Annette, what happened?' And she went: 'Oh, nothing. Keith just threw the cat at me.'" (Music-News)

Keith, according to a rock tradition that perhaps he was about to start, employed a bodyguard. He had ordered him not to get him out of the house, so he had started doing everything he could to avoid surveillance. While enjoying a drink, he opened the window without giving the impression of what he was about to do and dropped below.

Bill and Spyros ran to the window and saw Keith leaning over a stack of mattresses he had previously piled up in the dumpster of a construction company. He got up, brushed his dress and shouted at the attentive spectators - see you at the Play Boy Club. I take an orange juice

At that time, Keith was fooling the doctors, creating confusion in explaining his symptoms so as to get more pills as possible. He needed to relieve the symptoms of alcohol abstinence. But he seemed determined to remain sober.

However, the former bassist of the rock icons has now closed the restaurant for good after 32 years.

'Devastated': The bassist, 84, is said to be 'devastated' over the closure as it has always meant 'a lot to him' (pictured Sticky Fingers restaurant at Phillimore Gardens in London)

The 84-year-old  (at that time) said: “My heart goes out to all those affected by Covid. I also have the sad news to report that my beloved Sticky Fingers restaurant has closed for the last time because of the pandemic.

“I would like to thank everyone who has support Sticky’s, both customers and staff, over a wonderful 32 years of business.”

A friend of Wyman’s told The Daily Mail: “Bill’s devastated that it’s had to close, but the Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to keep going. It combined his passions for comfort food and music, and it always meant a lot to him, right up until the end.”

Wyman left the Stones in 1993, and went on to form his own band – Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings.

The restaurant was a popular destination not only for foodies but also rock 'n' roll fans, as Bill filled the walls with more than 100 items from the Bill Wyman Archive.

They included a selection of his own instruments such as his fretless bass guitar, which he constructed himself in 1961 and used at his first ever meeting with his future bandmates, Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

The venue has now been completely stripped of all items, while a sign on the front door reads: 'We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and we thank you for your continued support throughout the years.'
