Life imitates art on Playboy‘s latest cover, with Charli xcx making her song “Playboy Bunny” a reality by posing for the magazine in an issue published Wednesday (Sept. 16).

The racy photo shoot by her longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri shows the dance-pop star stripping down in London, with some snaps showing her modeling black lingerie in what appears to be a hotel room and others capturing her posing in her underwear with the city in the background. She also showed some skin for pictures shot while aboard a boat on the river Thames, about which she said: “The tourists were into it.”
For her cover story interview, Charli spoke to The Moment costar Kylie Jenner about wanting to grace the cover of media’s most iconic sexy mag. “I’ve wanted to shoot with Playboy for a while,” the singer said. “I love the logo. I love underwear. I love female bodies. I love full-out sexiness.”
“A Playboy Bunny should never apologize for anything,” she also quipped.
The full interview is reserved for Playboy subscribers, but in select quotes, Charli reveals the “toxic” relationship trait — “being, like, a tiny bit avoidant” — she thinks is “hot, unfortunately.” She also shouted out one celebrity who she thinks has it going on.
“Sure, like, Jack Black’s sexy,” Charli said of the actor (whom Elle and Dakota Fanning also famously find ultra attractive). “Yeah, he’s funny. He’s talented. He’s cool. He’s original, you know? I think that makes people sexy when they’re just doing their thing.”
Charli last dropped an LP in July, unveiling Music, Fashion, Film, which features “Playboy Bunny” as a B-side release. The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
She’s now hitting the road on a six-show mini-tour in support of the project, though some fans were disappointed with the limited run of dates she has planned. Charli responded by writing on Instagram recently, “I know there’s a lot of frustration in the comments about the fact that I am not doing lots of dates.”
“I am really sorry if you feel disappointed, but I have to honor my truth as an artist: touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me,” she added. “I have a huge amount of respect for artists who can handle it at an intense, lengthy and high-octane level, but I am just not one of those human beings and I never have been.”
