Chvrches have announced ‘All The King’s Men’ – their first album in nearly six years – as well as a 2027 tour across the UK, Ireland and North America. (NME report)

Featuring the recently released single ‘Roses’, the album comes after the trio of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty, took a pause following their 2023 tour and vowed to embrace a new musical approach when they returned.
While ‘Screen Violence’ was written remotely, ‘All The King’s Men’ saw the the Scottish synth-pop stars write and record over multiple intense three-week stints in Glasgow, where they embraced experimentation.
The end result is 11 songs that explore the culture and history of Britain and Scotland, which the trio have delved into after spending years in the US.
For Doherty, this approach came after he frequently returned to Scotland to spend time with his mother, and found himself inspired by filmmakers like Ken Loach, and British artists like Massive Attack, Siouxsie & The Banshees, who never shied away from tackling social issues.
This was paired with the new songwriting approach of Cook, who was still living in Scotland and started to move away from electronica and embrace acoustic instruments, inspired by Nick Drake, Bert Jansch and Incredible String Band.
