Most nights meant Iman's home-cooked dinners. "I'm one of those people that can read a recipe and cook it and not stress over it," says Iman. "Roast chicken with herbs for Sunday dinner. On Saturdays, he loved English breakfast, with bacon and sausage — both my daughter [Alexandria 'Lexi'] and David." (Iman and Bowie each had an older child from their previous marriages.)
Says Iman, "David got so used to my cooking that whenever I'd say 'Shall we order tonight?' He'd say 'You're not cooking?' He was always in the kitchen with me. He couldn't cook. He would burn water but he'd put music on and we'd dance, the three of us."
When Kotb asked what one of Iman’s greatest wishes is, she got emotional before admitting, “If there is an afterlife, I’d like to see my husband again. That’s the one I want.”
Having previously divorced his first wife, Angela Barnett in 1980, Bowie married Iman in 1992 and - despite his outrageous style and fashion sense - held a very traditional wedding. Bowie wore a suit with tails and Iman, a supermodel in her own right, wore a white dress, white gloves, and tied her hair up. (Express)
Iman also said she’s not at a stage in life where she’s looking for a romantic relationship with someone else. “I just don’t know if I’m open to that kind of relationship. It’s only been six years, so I’m not open to it now,” she explained, later adding of the couple’s nearly 25-year marriage, “I think if you’re lucky, you’ll experience something like that, you know what I mean? It’s luck, and I was lucky.”
Bowie and Iman first met in 1990 on a blind date - Bowie's longtime friend and hairdresser Teddy Antolin set the Ziggy Stardust singer up with Iman because the rocker was having a tough time
"I fell in love with David Jones. I did not fall in love with David Bowie. Bowie is just a persona. He’s a singer, an entertainer." And it didn't take long for
"David was very lonely. It was so sad – all this hard work David did each day and then he was alone.”
When Bowie and Iman were set up, she had his attention immediately. Antolin recalled: "[Iman] had a big smile and her and David looked at each other and it was love at first sight, you could feel the electricity, something went off."
Bowie said: "My attraction to her was immediate and all-encompassing. I couldn't sleep for the excitement of our first date."
Their marriage was perfect. They stayed out of the press and remained private as much as they could. Bowie once reportedly said of his partnership with Iman: "You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world... It is."
It was a really everyday marriage,” she said. “He was a very funny, warm gentleman – you know, everyone talks about him being futuristic, but no, he was not, he liked more than anything to wear a three-piece suit.
