Hosted by Alex Cooper, the one-hour special sees the singer visit recreations of the show’s sets – including the Stewart family living room – and recall memories from her time filming the series. It’s wrapped around a live performance in front of 215 people, where she performs a number of songs from the era.
The special also features a stack of special guests, including Selena Gomez, Chappell Roan, and Miley’s father Billy Ray Cyrus.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is available to stream on Disney+.
Miley Cyrus has revealed that she began promoting a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary special before Disney had even considered making one.
The singer and actress has explained that she deliberately started talking about the project publicly in the hope it would encourage Disney executives to eventually bring it to life.
Speaking to Variety, Miley explained that the unusual strategy was inspired by advice from her godmother, music legend Dolly Parton.
"I learned this terrible habit - but I actually think it was good advice - from Dolly," she said. "She told me that if you want something to happen, promote it before it exists. Then no one can say no."
The singer talks about her time as Hannah Montana in the trailer for the upcoming “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary” special. In the Disney show, Cyrus played Miley Stewart, a high school student by day who would don a blond wig and become pop star Hannah Montana at night.
