Grimes shares new song ‘Artificial Angels'

By VMZ Staff on October 21, 2025

Written from the perspective of AI: “This is what it feels like to be hunted by something smarter than you”

The new track comes amid a huge ongoing debate about the use of AI, particularly in the creation of music, and follows on from other of Grimes’ songs that touch on the subject, including ‘I Wanna Be Software’.

With the new track, the artist introduces a heavy, electronic beat and begins to put forward the perspective of artificial intelligence in the lyrics.

The artist also clarified that while it is an intricate topic, she generally is against AI being used to make music.

“I think it can be useful for some things but the apps mostly took the cool ai artifacts out if it and I’m not super interested in it to just make normal music,” Grimes wrote on X/Twitter.

The Canadian artist (real name Claire Boucher) recently posted the pair of new tracks on her official Soundcloud profile.

Grimes Asks People to ‘Stop Posting Images of My Kid Everywhere’
"I would really, really appreciate that," the musician said in a new interview

“Obviously no time was spent on it but my old manager at would always pester me to finish it and make it a banger but I forgot I suppose. Def has a lot of potential tho I’ll probably make a better topline and produce it one day.”

Over on her Instagram Stories feed, she said: “I’m sorry my album is taking so long – as penance here is a 2009 demo that probably should have been finished. I always promise yall the demos – they’re just little ideas started but nonetheless.”

Grime has responded to the online fervor after Elon Musk recently paraded their four-year-old son around the White House. Speaking to Time in a new interview about technology and AI, Grimes requested that people stop posting photos of her child publicly.

The singer was asked, “There were a lot of reactions online when you tweeted about your son X’s appearance in the Oval Office. What was your reaction to that moment?”

“It was like, ‘Grimes slams,’ ‘Grimes speaks out,'” she said. “It’s like, OK, it was a reply. But I would really like people to stop posting images of my kid everywhere. I think fame is something you should consent to. Obviously, things will just be what they are. But I would really, really appreciate that. I can only ask, so I’m just asking.”

Musk brought the former couple’s eldest child, X Æ A-Xii (or X for short), to the Oval Office earlier this month. At the time, Grimes tweeted in response to the many photos of the moment, “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”
