Karol G is getting the documentary treatment in “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful,” a new feature premiering on Netflix on May 8. The singer gave fans a first look at the documentary with a short video trailer posted to her social media
“My life, my work, my truth and the powerful connection I share with you all. My dream came true.”
Against a montage of clips from her “Mañana Será Bonito” stadium tour, Karol says in the trailer, “Ever since I was a little girl, people would tell me, ‘Karol, this dream isn’t for you,'” she says in the trailer in Spanish. Another, unidentified male’s voice follows, narrating, “It’s no secret how rare it is to see a woman in the reggaeton genre.”
The film, directed by Cristina Costantini (“Mucho Mucho Amor”), is produced by This Machine (a part of Sony Pictures Television), Interscope Films and Bichota Films. Producers include R.J. Cutler, Elise Pearlstein, Trevor Smith, Kristofer Ríos, Alex Simmons, Mariem Pérez and Costantini. Interscope executives Nir Seroussi and John Janick are credited as executive producers along with Margaret Yen and Mark Blatty. (Variety)
As per a press release, the documentary has been described as “an intimate portrait of a global music icon — the woman behind the artist.” It will be produced by This Machine, a part of Sony Pictures Television, in association with Bichota Films and Interscope Films. Interscope CEO John Janick and Executive Vice President Nir Seroussi will both serve as executive producers on the project.
