Keith Moon solo album 'Two Sides of the Moon' full audio

Two Sides of the Moon is the debut and his only solo album from the primary drummer from English rock band The Who, Keith chose to sing lead vocals on all the tracks, (full audio album below)

Rather than using the album as a chance to showcase his legendary drumming skill  and choose to play drums only on three of the tracks ("Crazy like a Fox", "The Kids Are Alright" and "Move Over Ms. L"), although he does plays percussion on "Don't Worry Baby". The album features indexcontributions from Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Joe Walsh of The Eagles, Jim Keltner, Bobby Keys, Klaus Voorman, John Sebastian, Flo & Eddie (Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan of The Turtles), Spencer Davis, Dick Dale, Suzi Quatro's sister Patti Quatro and future actor Miguel Ferrer.

Moon was inspired to release a solo album after bandmate John Entwistle had released Smash Your Head Against the Wall (with Moon playing percussion and singing backing vocals) and Whistle Rymes (also with Moon), and Roger Daltrey released his hit album Daltrey. With Pete Townshend soon to do his own solo album, Moon decided to make one as well. Moon, a big fan of The Beach Boys-style surf rock, decided to make a cover album with help from Ringo Starr of The Beatles. Originally recorded for his own album, but not released on it, John Lennon gave Moon the track "Move Over Ms. L" and later did his own version.75tsotm-km

Not than you can blame Moonie for taking MCA/Polydor up on the deal. His other Who bandmates Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Roger Daltrey had each recorded their own side projects and, besides, the group was on a break between Quadrophenia and The Who by Numbers.

But it’s more than likely that the drug-addled and prank-prone Moonie wasn’t trying to make a good record. Well-aware of his singing shortcomings, Keith decided to make a vocal covers record anyway. He belted some of his favorite songs by the Beach Boys (“Don’t Worry Baby”), the Beatles (“In My Life”) and even his own band (“The Kids Are Alright”), each with the backing vocals mixed louder than his lead singing. Anyone under the illusion that this was supposed to be a serious attempt at solo stardom by Moon the Loon should have dropped that notion as soon as they saw the reversible insert for the LP, which showed Keith’s naked bottom (Two Sides of the Moon, indeed).
