The Tik Tok hitmaker included the track on her debut studio album, Animal, which was unveiled in January 2010.
But while Kesha filmed a music video for the track in Los Angeles at around the same time, the footage was only published online on Monday.
"In 2009, I knew I wanted Backstabber to be a single, so I took it upon myself to make this video to convince everyone that it deserved its moment. My friends and I stayed up all night, did our own glam, and shot this video!!" she recalled in an Instagram post. "It was so authentic to that moment in my life, before everything changed."
The footage shows Kesha dancing on a sidewalk with her friends. She wears her signature punk look, comprised of a tiger-print swimsuit, glittery eye make-up, and tousled hair.
"It was my first music video, and I just knew I needed it to work. Finally... in 2026... it's OUT! This video will always have a special place in my heart. And thanks to those backstabbers 🙂 I appreciate the inspo," the 39-year-old shared.
As for why it took so long to unearth the music video, Kesha simply replied "longggg storyyyyyyy," to a follower on X.
"I been trying to this whole time," she added
