Soon after the announcement, Kylie Minogue’s fans took to social media to share their own memories of Minogue’s iconic 2005 Showgirl: The Greatest Hits tour. That tour saw Minogue play her biggest tunes while dressed like a showgirl – the 2005 tour was cut short after the Australian legend was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Following a clean bill of health, Minogue resumed the Showgirl tour in 2006. It appears that Kylie’s own friends sent her a number of archival pictures from the Showgirl tour after Swift announced her album.
Minogue shared some of these images on social media, reflecting on her own run of burlesque-inspired shows: “When all your friends start sending you your Showgirl mems!!!
She went on to preach about the “showgirl life” while giving Taylor props: “Showgirl life is ‘a thing’, multi dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle respect and admiration to all my fellow hard working Showgirls .”
