The late Beatle‘s bike – a Honda Monkey-Trail Bike XUC 91H – was used by Lennon between 1969 to 1971 to get around his Tittenhurst Park estate in the Surrey countryside.

The owner of a small motorcycle bought 40 years ago has finally confirmed that it was once owned by John Lennon. John Harington was told that the Honda DAX “monkey bike” had been the musician’s when he paid £250 for it in 1971, but did not believe it.

The yachtsman, of Weymouth, Dorset, who used the bike to travel around foreign ports, researched its origins after seeing a photograph of Lennon riding it with his son Julian. The Beatle used the bike at Tittenhurst Park, his estate in Berkshire, where he lived in the late 1960s.

Henry Graham

acquired the bike from Lennon in 1971, before selling it on to its current vendor, John Harington, in the same year. Harington has kept the bike ever since, and has displayed it at various events and shows throughout the past 47 years.

The bike has now been obtained by H&H Classics, with their experts estimating that the bike will sell for at least £30,000 when it is made available for sale on March 4 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
