Rumours of a reunion have been swirling since the Fleetwood Mac‘s Mick Fleetwood and Buckingham were pictured working on new music together in the studio. Then, Nicks and Buckingham began teasing a project just days ago, where they shared a pair of cryptic posts on social media.
Last year, the legendary duo reissued their 1973 album ‘Buckingham Nicks’, making it publicly available for the first time since its original release.
Now, Buckingham may have dropped hints of another potential reunion between the two, linking to the upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary.
In a new interview with E!, Buckingham said: “I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us.”
The musician went on to dodge a question about a possible tour, instead saying the “most important thing” was the fact he and Nicks had reconciled. “Because we had left things in 2019, maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons,” he said. “No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out.”
“Stevie and I are talking all the time now,” he added. “Next year should be a pretty interesting year, because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves.”
The Fleetwood Mac bandmates and former lovers shared a joint Instagram post Friday featuring a vintage clip of the duo onstage with Nicks singing the opening lyrics of their song “Frozen Love.”
In retrospect, it seems preposterous that this album flopped in 1973, but then fate had other plans for Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Recorded while Nicks was still working day jobs to support them both, it looked like disappearing altogether, until Mick Fleetwood, shopping around for recording studios, heard glorious album closer Frozen Love – and his future opening up before him – at Sound City in Van Nuys. He swiftly brought the couple into Fleetwood Mac, and all worries were soon over.
Now, a billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles has displayed the album cover with its title and the date, September 19. If this is indeed a reissue, it would be the first time it has been remastered or digitally re-released since the record landed in 1973.
