The singer also penned a note describing her first time listening to the rock band. The 27-year-old Lorde- songwriter finally returned Thursday (March 28), nearly three years after she dropped her last studio record, Solar Power, to release her version of Talking Heads‘ “Take Me to the River,” becoming the third artist to cover the rock band ahead of A24’s Stop Making Sense tribute album.
Lorde has released a new cover of “Take Me to the River” for the new album Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. Check out the New Zealand artist’s take on the song, produced with Jim-E Stack, below.
Al Green co-wrote and recorded “Take Me to the River” for 1974’s Al Green Explores Your Mind. Talking Heads covered the song for 1978’s More Songs About Buildings and Food and played it live for 1984’s Stop Making Sense.
Last year, A24 re-released Stop Making Sense ahead of its 40th anniversary. The new and forthcoming tribute album features covers by Paramore, Teezo Touchdown, Miley Cyrus, and others.

“I don’t know why I love you like I do/ After all the things that you put me through,” she sings. “The 16 candles burning on my wall/ Turning me into the biggest fool of them all.”

Paramore Put on the Big Suit for 'Burning Down The House' Talking Heads Cover
Last year A24 released an acclaimed restoration of Talking Heads’ 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense and earlier this month, the prestigious film company teased a Stop Making Sense tribute album featuring Paramore covering “Burning Down The House.” That track is out now.
A24 acquired the rights to Stop Making Sense and put the remastered movie on IMAX screens for its 40th anniversary, and all four Talking Heads reunited onstage for the first time in decades, being interviewed by Spike Lee at the Toronto International Film Festival and then making more and more appearances in support of the movie.
Now, there’s apparently a Stop Making Sense tribute album in the works, and one of the bands involved is Paramore.
