Miley Cyrus’ ‘Bass Persuades’ Has the Biggest Chart Drop Ever for an Album

By VMZ Staff on October 7, 2026

After scoring her first No. 1 since 2013, the album plummeted 156 spots

The specific record “Bass Persuades” set is for the most precipitous fall from an album that premiered at No. 1 in its debut week to a considerably less lofty place in week 2.

Some news outlets erroneously reported that Cyrus’ album was in second place for the biggest fall from No. 1 in an album’s second week out, citing Bon Jovi’s “This House Is Not for Sale” as having taken an even bigger tumble, from No. 1 to No. 169. But the Bon Jovi album was already two years old at that point, and it had regained the top spot for a week only after having been long gone from the chart entirely, via a tricky maneuver that is no longer allowed today.

Miley Cyrus’ Bass Persuades made history with its No. 1 debut, but not in the way she might have hoped.

After topping the Billboard 200 chart upon release last week, her 10th studio album has tumbled to No. 157 this week. According to Variety, that makes it the biggest second-week drop for a full-length release that debuted at the summit.

There have technically been steeper falls from No. 1, although neither came immediately after an album’s chart debut. Bon Jovi’s This House Is Not for Sale dropped from No. 1 to No. 169 in 2018 after returning to the top nearly two years after its release. Similarly, Travis Scott’s Days Before Rodeo disappeared completely from the Billboard 200 after reaching No. 1 in its fourth week.

Miley Cyrus has released a music video for her song “Different Religion” featuring Model/Actriz off of her new album Bass Persuades.

To celebrate the record’s release, she announced two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18. You can find any remaining tickets here.

The shows come after Miley said last year that she still had no “desire” to tour, explaining that embarking on extensive runs of concerts made it difficult to maintain her mental well-being.

Now, she’s hinted at plans for a residency. During an interview with Zane Lowe for his show on Apple Music, the singer reflected on the high demand for her two Hollywood Bowl shows.

Miley Cyrus has unveiled the video for “Let’s Get Married,” the second single from her upcoming album, Bass Persuades.

The black-and-white video follow Cyrus and her fiancé, musician and producer Maxx Morando, as they check into West Hollywood’s iconic Chateau Marmont. From there, the camera captures the lovebirds and their friends running through halls naked, romping around in bed, dancing, and drinking champagne in customary rock star fashion.

Cyrus announced the video’s release a day before her 10th album is set to drop. In a post shared to Instagram, she reflected on the journey to her new LP alongside a sweet photo from the video of her and Morando. “It’s been less than a year since starting to create this album and now releasing it. Having this record keep up with the way my life moves in real time and still feel so alive is special,” she wrote. “Thank you to everyone who made this album what it is. Love you.”

Cyrus released the lead single, “Bass Persuades,” earlier this month, the same week she announced her new album of the same name (along with the dropping of her surname). Bass Persuades, the LP, is the follow-up to Miley’s 2025 LP Something Beautiful and her first album under new label home Atlantic Records.

The Grammy winner’s label said the album signals a new chapter in which Miley (no last name) will honor the influence of her godmother, Dolly Parton. The album will be followed with her first full concerts in the U.S. since 2021 this fall when she headlines two nights at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 16 and 18.
