Noel Gallagher has joined forces with Gibson to create a limited-edition run of Gibson ’78 Les Paul Customs.
In the collaboration, Gallagher has released 20 signed Gibson ’78 Les Paul Custom guitars – inspired by the axe originally given to him by Johnny Marr, and used extensively for both live performances and recording sessions with Oasis. It also famously appeared in the video for the song ‘Whatever’.
The 20 guitars will be available exclusively to in-person attendees on the official opening day of the new flagship store in central London (Saturday, February 24). Gallagher and Gibson will donate all profits from the guitars to the charity Teenage Cancer Trust.
“The Les Paul Custom that Johnny gave me in 1994 was always one of my favourite guitars and it carries a lot of history,” Gallagher said of the limited-edition run. “The reissues are great, they feel almost identical. I am delighted they are being sold to support the Teenage Cancer Trust.”
Gallagher’s ’78 Les Paul Customs feature a lightly aged Ebony finish by the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab, and each is hand-signed by Noel Gallagher.
The singer, songwriter, guitarist and former Oasis legend teamed up with the iconic guitar manufacturer in celebration of the grand opening of the Gibson Garage in London later this week, and to raise funds for charity.
Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Kelly Jones, Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder and Paul Weller to play 2024 TCT. Noel Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers also to play 2024 Teenage Cancer Trust gigs.
On the line-up for the final show will be Daltrey, Kelly Jones, Robert Plant with Saving Grace, Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder and Paul Weller.

Friday night 22 March sees the amazing trio, Young Fathers on stage at the Albert Hall.
Saturday 23 March opens the weekend up with The Chemical Brothers and DJ James Holroyd.

The singer-songwriter shared an official image of himself holding his beloved ’60s Cherry Red Gibson in a large studio space. In the caption, he confirmed that the special model would be launching next Tuesday (August 30).

Noel Gallagher’s once-prized Gibson ES-355 – the electric guitar reportedly behind the break-up of Oasis – has sold for €385,500 (approximately $403,254) after it was put up for auction last month.
The Bigsby-equipped beauty sold for less than what the auction host, Artpèges Gallery, had anticipated, and pulled in just under its $550,000 estimation.
Nevertheless, It’s still a significant sum of money – not quite enough to get it on the list of most expensive guitars ever sold at auction, mind – and one that was commanded by the ES-355’s association with both the Gallagher brother and Oasis’ volatile split in 2009. (Guitarworld)
Minutes before the group were set to make their appearance, however, Noel and his brother Liam were reportedly engaged in a bust-up that resulted in the ultimate destruction of the guitar, with Noel alleging his brother had smashed his prized six-string.
The damage was extensive, leaving the ES-355 in need of a neck refit after it had been detached from the body.
A few years after it had been battered and bruised, the guitar was restored by Philippe Dubreuille – a luthier who has worked on instruments for Jeff Beck, Iggy Pop and Mark Ronson.
