The unique live event will see the global icon discuss the creative journey behind his critically acclaimed new solo album, "The Boys of Dungeon Lane," which officially hit shelves and streaming platforms last week on Friday, May 29.
During the exclusive evening, McCartney will reflect on the making of the album from its earliest conceptual stages, sharing personal stories and insights from his initial 2021 meeting with producer Andrew Watt through to the final recording process. The standard presentation will offer audiences a rare, first-hand perspective on his songwriting craft, the development of the album artwork, and the experience of duetting with his longtime Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr for the first time. The evening will blend these untold spoken-word stories with the playback of the new music throughout the venue.
Marking his first new solo studio record in over five years, "The Boys of Dungeon Lane" is being hailed as McCartney's most deeply personal and introspective work to date. Turning his creative lens inward, the collection focuses heavily on never-before-shared memories and newly inspired love songs. The tracks find McCartney in a candid, vulnerable, and reflective mood, writing with an unprecedented openness about his childhood in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and his early teenage adventures with George Harrison and John Lennon long before the onset of global Beatlemania.
Why revenge? In the early 80s, Michael skunked McCartney and bought the Beatles song catalog out from underneath him. The enmity continued until Michael died and McCartney eventually got his rights back.
But the tug of war went on for decades.
The Beatle has done an amazing press tour the last two weeks promoting his new album, “The Boys of Dungeon Lane.” The reviews are stellar, and the result is big sales right away. (Kudos to his PR people.)
So far, no singles have popped up on iTunes. McCartney was never good with singles. In the Wings days, he released one per album, leaving a lot of chart action on the table.
Speaking exclusively in the new issue of MOJO, in UK shops May 12 and available to order for delivery HERE, Paul McCartney has discussed the making of his new album, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, and the emotional, 70-year journey behind it.
