McCartney: there might be recordings together with Elvis

On his official website, a fan asked Paul McCartney, "Is it true there is a recording out there somewhere of a jam session that you had with Elvis Presley?

" Paul said, "There is no recording of a jam session with Elvis - that I know of! I haven't got it and I don't remember that. But you know I suppose there's some slim possibility it's true."

Paul: “There is no recording of a jam session with Elvis - that I know of! And, 'You’re My World'? No. I think it's highly unlikely. I'd be interested to hear it if anyone has it? I haven't got it and I don't remember that. But you know I suppose there's some slim possibility it’s true. But as far as I'm concerned, it isn’t! It was phenomenal to meet Elvis because we'd grown up in Liverpool and it was hearing his record ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ that I think tipped the balance for the four of us in The Beatles.

We wanted to do something like that.

So we'd grown up with this sort of wonder for this amazing guy who just looked great and sang great – and we were major fans! So when we became The Beatles we asked to meet him."I remember George saying 'if this is going to be another dirty big publicity circus, let's forget it'.

Eventually we did meet him and it was lovely and we were just like big fans! We were just in awe, because this man that we'd idolised for so long… it was just very special. It was magic!”

Priscilla: Some stars want to meet other stars. Some stars have to hang out with other stars. Not Elvis. I can't remember him once telling the Colonel to arrange a meeting with anyone famous. He saw Hollywood as the home of phonies. He certainly felt out of place, which is why the minute the movie wrapped he was gone.

One memorable evening, the Colonel arranged for Elvis to meet four famous people. But I believe it was the Beatles who were eager to meet Elvis, not the other way around. In fact, when John, Paul, Ringo and George walked in, Elvis was relaxing on the couch, looking at TV without the sound. He barely bothered to get up.

We had a great evening. He was really brilliant. He was the first guy we knew who had a remote control on his television. That's how long ago it was. Paul says.

Elvis played 'Mohair Sam' all evening on the jukebox, 'cause he was well into that. Priscilla was wheeled in about half past ten for about five minutes as if she was a doll, which she looked like. It was great.
We were totally in awe of him. He was learning to play bass so I kind of taught him a little bit of stuff. A really nice guy, really regular person, what we saw of him.
