Paul Simon retired from touring in 2018, ending his farewell tour with a concert at Flushing Meadow Park in the New York borough of Queens, where he grew up.
Simon began his first tour since 2018-2019 with a transcendent 19-song acoustic performance on 2025 (April 4) at New Orleans' historic Saenger Theater. "I'm as excited as you are," he admitted on stage, "and you're probably not as nervous as I am."
By the time he kicked off a five-night stand at Walt Disney Concert Hall Simon was a full 40 shows into his 2025 “Quiet Celebration” outing. And he was sounding… yes, softer (as promised in the tour title!) but, really, undiminished. We’ve never had a better reason to be glad someone went back on their word.
NOW this is Simon’s first tour overseas in eight years, following his 2018 retirement announcement. Back then, he described it as being “less a goodbye than a farewell.” Tickets for the European leg go on sale next week.
