Pink Floyd’s Legendary Album Hits A Longevity Milestone

By VMZ Staff on June 26, 2026

Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here reaches 600 weeks on the U.K.’s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, becoming one of just three releases by the band to hit that milestone.

The classic album joins The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall among Pink Floyd’s longest-running successes on the genre ranking, though Wish You Were Here is one of only two to reach 600 weeks with a single version. (Forbes report)

When it comes to selling albums, Pink Floyd is one of the most successful rock bands in the history of the United Kingdom. That statement is true when looking at the more than half-century-long existence of the recorded music business, and it applies more often than not every time the Official Charts Company refreshes its rankings.

Typically, multiple albums by Pink Floyd appear on several charts in the U.K., and the group consistently places in some of the highest spots on the Official Rock & Metal Albums tally in that nation. This time around, Pink Floyd scores multiple winners on that genre-specific rundown, and one of the outfit's most popular releases reaches a longevity milestone that only a handful of acts will ever approach.

Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here Reaches 600 Weeks
Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here slips outside the top 10 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, but the fact that it lives on the U.K.'s list of the top-selling titles in those genres is important. Wish You Were Here has now spent 600 weeks as one of the 40 most popular hard rock and metal collections in that country.

Wish You Were Here is one of three releases by Pink Floyd to hit that 600-week longevity milestone. The other two that have done so managed to rack up at least 600 frames on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart thanks, in part, to multiple editions appearing in the U.K. Sometimes, a title can debut more than once on the same tally if the Official Charts Company – the U.K.'s Billboard equivalent – deems one version different enough from other variants due to a shift in titling or a certain amount of new material being added.

Pink Floyd Claims Three 600-Week-Charters
The Dark Side of the Moon has reached the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart three times, and across every iteration, it has spent a total of 717 weeks on the list. The first version is about to crack 650 periods somewhere on the rundown. The Wall is up to a collective 629 weeks on the same genre-focused ranking. One take cracked 500 weeks not long ago, while a second edition has spent 126 frames on the roster throughout the years.

Wish You Were Here is one of only two titles by Pink Floyd to manage 600 weeks or more on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart thanks to just a single version. The Dark Side of the Moon has also accomplished that feat, though, as stated above, it has landed on the tally more than once.
