After delighting audiences for over sixty years and cementing his place as one of rock and roll’s most beloved stars, it’s safe to say it takes quite a lot to impress Rod Stewart.
But one person who continues to amaze him day after day, is the singer’s beloved wife Penny Lancaster, who swapped the catwalk for walking the beat when she became a special police constable for the Metropolitan Police back in 2021.
Specials, just like regular police officers are instrumental in upholding law and order in the community as well as carrying out arrests and executing warrants, except unlike salaried officers, special constables are volunteers.
Since taking on the role, which saw Penny working on duty during The Queen’s funeral and the coronation of King Charles, Rod exclusively admitted to OK! that “he couldn’t be prouder” of his wife for her new found vocation.
“I’m so, so, proud of her though. Absolutely so proud. I’ve been right behind her right from the start,” gushed the devoted singer, although he did add that he had noticed one distinctive change in her personality since joining the force.
“Oh it’s wonderful, she puts me in my place,” teased Rod. “She has become a little bit more bossy, even our two children have noticed. Especially when we’re driving! ‘ Oh you’re driving too fast, oh you should’ve put a signal out there when we’re driving the car.’ ”
Rod Stewart has continued his generosity streak by gifting staff at five-star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire a £10,000 tip following his New Year's trip
Rock legend Sir Rod Stewart surprised staff at a five-star hotel with a £10,000 tip, before advising them how to spend it.
The generous gesture was made at Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, where he celebrated Celtic's victory over Rangers with his wife and two sons.
The rocker and his family were actually living it up in a five-star hotel in Scotland - enjoying their "first ever #hogmanay" and embracing their Scottish heritage. Former model Penny Lancaster shared a snap of her family in the Aucherarder hotel’s American Bar on Instagram with her 190,000 followers over the weekend, tagging her family in the sweet snap. Penny looked stunning in a long black gown as she posed alongside her son and husband, who were both looking dapper in a suit and tie.
Before leaving, Rod left a more than generous tip of £10,000 for the hotel staff - before telling them how to spend the dosh. The singing legend urged them to them to bet it on Scotland taking home the trophy in the Euros 2024.
In another act of kindness in recent years, the rock star gifted £5,000 to a student nurse in the NHS who had fallen on hard times after contracting Covid-19 and having to pause her nursing career.
Natasha Jenkins spent 22 days on a ventilator and was given a cheque from the Maggie May singer when she returned home. She expressed her surprise and gratitude, saying: "I'm doing really good now. When I saw what Rod Stewart had sent me I was absolutely gobsmacked. It was a really, really lovely kind thing for him to do. I was gobsmacked with the cheque. I've joined a gym which is helping me physically and mentally and life is really good at the minute."
