Nearly 350 students were honoured at the celebration at Brighton Dome.
Daltrey, who has been a patron of the college since 2013, offered some choice words of wisdom and encouragement for the graduates.
In his speech, which focused on digital streaming, he said: “This industry is completely different from what it was even ten years ago. There are good things and bad things to know about digital streaming.
He said: “Music doesn’t lie.
“If there is anything to be changed in this world, it can only happen through music.”
“Young artists today can have hit records via digital streaming sites without even being well known.
“Record companies can sign artists very easily these days, meaning it’s easier to get a deal, but it’s still difficult to build a career.
“That’s an issue that you as a generation are going to have to address.”
Daltrey has lived in Sussex for decades and owns a trout farm near Burwash.
College principal Martin Wright quoted another superstar during his address to the students, the late Jimi Hendrix, who appeared at Brighton Dome in 1967.
He said: “Music doesn’t lie.
“If there is anything to be changed in this world, it can only happen through music.”
